Futsal is a scaled down version of outdoor soccer, played indoors. It is a small-sided game, played on a smaller field with a smaller ball. There are no walls in play so futsal is played with touchline boundaries, similar to outdoor soccer. It is well-known to develop individual technique and confidence with the ball (specifically at speed and under pressure). The nature of futsal necessitates players to demonstrate the principles of play and display the same quality of control that is required outdoor. This is most evident as the major heads of US Soccer and FIFA declare "this is the way to go for player development."
The Pride Futsal League is designed to provide players an opportunity to receive maximum touches on the ball, movement without the ball and improve on individual foot skills, decision making and technical speed in a fun and positive environment, between seasons of competitive play. The priority of the Pride Futsal League is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning.
- Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid stated, "The smaller court helped my footwork skills, the nature of the game made me feel so free when I played. If it wasn’t for futsal, I would definitely not be the player I am today."
- Lionel Messi, Barcelona stated, "In Argentina, when I was a young boy, I used to play a lot of futsal on the street and with Newell's Old Boys. It was a really fun game that's helped me a great deal."
The Pride Futsal League will run January 3rd - February 28th with all games played at Colorado Springs Sports Center.
